I'm a woman of a certain age who has always been an avid reader of novels and a fan of movies. (Fiction is the opiate of the masses - and thank heaven for it!) Then I discovered that writing is an even better escape than reading books or watching movies. I've written six novels to completion, but I didn't feel that any one of them was good enough to send to an agent. I usually have so much description that my work probably would only appeal to fashionistas, interior decorators, botinists/geologists and chefs! Going through the book this time, I'm just trying to get the bare plot points and dialogue in shape. When that's done, I may slip in bits of description - being careful not to slow the pace.
